This feature class is derived from the Hydro_Area_2017_Py dataset. Where a body of water overlaps a stream/river from the Hydro_Line_2017_Ln feature class, that polygon is taken as a representation of the stream/river's actual area, which allows for the calculation of a more accurate stream/river buffer. Each polygon is described by the Environmental Strategy Area (ESA) it is in, which determines the stream/river's minimum buffer requirement. For streams/rivers in ESA 4, which is the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, the CBCA_DES field describes the overlay zone the stream/river is in, which also affects the minimum buffer requirement. |
