Description: The Prince George’s County Planning Department partners with the Prince George’s County Department of Permits, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) to receive data related to Residential and Commercial Building Permits from the Momentum Permit System. The data collected is used to support various activities such as: tracking residential and non-residential development in the County; decision making regarding land use; and conducting forecasts related to housing and employment. The Planning Department receives a quarterly extract of Commercial and Residential permit data on January 1st, April 1st, July 1st and September 1st of each calendar year, covering the date range of May 1, 2023 through the first day of the present quarter. DPIE permit data is subject to change. The extract specifically contains the following Permit Types: Residential Permits Issued, Residential Permits Completed, Commercial Permits Issued, and Commercial Permits Completed. The distinguishing characteristic between issued permits and completed permits is the Use & Occupancy (U&O) Issue Date. Issuance of an U&O Certificate signifies a building is safe for residential living or business purposes, signaling the completion of the permitting process.
