 "description": "This layer shows the current extent of the Maryland-Washington Regional District, as defined by Article 28, Section 7-103 of the Maryland Annotated Code, amended by Chapter 426 Section 1, from House Bill 1290, Acts of 2012, last amended by Chapter 627 of House Bill 639 of 2013 (see: MD Code, Land Use, § 20-101). Maryland law grants the M-NCPPC planning and zoning and subdivision control over land included in the boundaries of the Regional District (see: Commission Authority, page 10). As defined by State Law, the Regional District includes all of Prince George's County aside from the City of Laurel as that city existed on July 1, 2013. Since that date the the City of Laurel has approved two annexations (resolution numbers 1-2014, effective July 31, 2014 and 2-2014, effective August 28, 2014), and an upcoming annexation, resolution 1-2016. While these annexed portions are within the Regional District, the City of Laurel has exclusive jurisdiction over planning, subdivision, and zoning within such annexed areas (see: Prince George's County vs. Laurel). The Regional District is used to calculate the assessable base for the Administration Fund portion of the M-NCPPC tax rate (see: Administration Fund, page 13). This layer is suitable for presentation at a scale of 1:12,000. Boundaries are shown in their approximate location. This coverage is not suitable for the identification of individual parcels.",
